Welcome To The River’s Edge

A long time ago, there was a man who proclaimed we should “make straight the coming of the Lord” by a rivers edge. And many people found their lives changed at that rivers edge. Today that message is again relevant. Whether Jesus is coming back tomorrow, or a thousand years from now, He will becoming for each of us as we suck our last breath. Will we be able to stand before Him, knowing that we lived like we believed, or will we realize that we spent so much of our time, so much of our energies in pursuits that just don’t matter. The Spirit of God is speaking into every believers heart , to “Be Holy, as I am Holy”.
So many of us find ourselves shipwrecked at that rivers edge and we don’t know how we got there. We have allowed our selves to be blown about by the cares and desires of this world and before we know it we have lost contact and touch with God. So what do we do?
There are so many sites, and avenues that you can find people preaching to you, and they are fullfilling a decent role. But lately while I was on my own rivers edge (the merced river….aptly named, meaning mercy) that maybe all we really need to do to help each other ot is to talk to each other. If we approach each other from a humble stand point, that we ALL need help, that we all in our own way have flaws and faling, then maybe we can find a way to over come some of them. So many people will hear the pastor preach, and instead of finding incouragment, they find they are isolated even more by their feelings of unworthiness. But God knows the secrets of all our hearts, and He still loves us…and most of all, He wants us to know we are His beloved children, even if we are ALL still a work in progress
I am not a pastor, and this is not a church….except that a church is nothing more than a gathering of Christians. A church without a pulpit. The goal here is not to tell you what’s wrong, not to tell you what to do, but to help you. The help you get your feet back on the path of righteousness, whether you need to repent, or simply forgive yourself, and take one more step down the road God has set before us, so that one day…..we might hear the words we all long to hear. Well done, good and faithul….enter into your rest.
The river’s edge. Where all the lies end, where all the fantasies fade away. where you come face to face with your life’s choice. Will you head out into the water, and embrace the repentence available to you, and the grace offered you…. or will you walk away…shaking your head, to complete the destruction of your life.
Forgiveness awaits at the rivers edge……if you want it.
