1 John 3: Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
Sometimes it can be a little hard to wrap our head around what it means to have God as our Father. Most of us grew up with a earthly father or father figure, and from the stories I have heard I was extremely fortunate.
My dad was loving, caring, took time to stretch our mind, exposed us to new and wonderful experiences. Sure he wasn’t Mike Brady, but who really is. He has absolutely flavored my take on “Father” God as someone who cares, who loves, and who does not take any nonsense.
And while it is not a perfect picture of Father God, it is a good start. I didn’t have to change a lot of my thinking to embrace that I was a child of God and He was my loving Father.
Others among us do not have such a pretty picture of a father, so much so they have a hard time calling God Father, instead they call Him what they never had, daddy.
Whatever you have to do, however you have to do it, to get the reality and image of a loving God, who is not just out there, but FAMILY, loving, caring, nurturing and yes when called for, chastising, you need to find a way to fully embrace Him. Because that love is priceless and will keep you serene when the storm blows around you.
Who are you?
You are a Child of a most loving, most high God. Embrace it.
